I haven't blogged in a long time. However, I frequently opine on the issues, and I feel like my point of view may be appreciated by more people (well, I suppose a couple more) if I make it available in text. So, on this blog, I aim to talk mostly about the Big Ideas that affect (and have the potential to effect) the United States and the world. I will talk about specific news items, political views, and other general topics of interest to people who like to follow the political goings-on of the present day. I may also talk about history or some other academic topic, usually where relevant.
I haven't entirely worked out the format here yet, so expect craziness for the next few weeks or months. Expect radical changes in layout, writing style, content, and posting timing and frequency, or just about anything else, for no apparent reason. Most of all, expect improvement. I will talk briefly about my political views. I'm generally a right-leaning libertarian. I believe in a free market, personal freedom, and limited foreign policy. I don't want to get too far into specifics yet, as that would ruin the fun of talking about these views in real posts.
I hope to see people enjoying The Big Idea News in the months and years to come.
